Empire Barbershop Amsterdam opened on Nassaukade 164H with a single conviction: that a great barbershop is built around a great chair, not a schedule. Not a number. Not a target. A chair — and the person sitting in it.
We chose Amsterdam West for its character. Da Costabuurt and Kinkerbuurt bring a neighbourhood rhythm you can't manufacture. Families from Westerpark, locals who've lived on the same street for twenty years, expats learning Dutch three words at a time, professionals cutting across from Jordaan and Oud-West after work — they all end up in Amsterdam West, and a good number of them end up in our chairs.
Every barber at Empire has to earn their seat. We don't hire single-trick specialists. We train across scissors, clippers and straight razor. The consultation comes first, every time.
